Read moreA leading childcare and early learning centre provides services in over 15 locations throughout Melbourne. They utilize apps on Android tablets, iPads and mobile phones for multiple purposes, among them are facilitating centre management and providing education for children.
Challenge
Due to the large number of devices, use and management was becoming a difficult task for centre management. Individual centres did not have dedicated IT staff onsite, which meant any updates or modification to devices couldn’t be done immediately.
Making the exact same change on several devices was repetitious, prone to error and an inefficient use of time. Staff frequently made changes to settings that interrupted their functionality. New centres were planned for the future and more devices would be needed at existing centres.
Solution
To be able to manage both iOS and Android devices, ITswitch deployed Mobile Device Management and Mobile Application Management using the Microsoft Intune cloud platform. As there were different mobile platforms with different uses, we investigated requirements for each scenario and created a few device deployment profiles.
Configuration profiles pushed all device settings including WiFi settings, passcodes, applications, installations and licenses, and application configurations, etc.
Using this solution, we deployed and centrally managed nearly 200 tablet devices across more than 16 centres, eliminating any manual configuration.
Besides ease of use, the client now has the ability to make changes to settings across all devices of same function centrally and immediately, as well the ability to remotely wipe devices in the instance of a device being lost or stolen.
Benefit
With automatic deployment of mobile devices, the client was relieved of doing any work for company tablets. As new device deployment was as easy as scanning a QR code using the device camera, every staff member at centres now could setup a new or replacement device.
Central management of devices enabled clients to roll out any changes to settings or applications to all devices immediately. They were also not worried about device settings as central management did not allow end user to make un-authorized changes to settings.
