Office 365 MFA – IMPLEMENTING CONFIDENT AND COMPETENT USE OF TECHNOLOGY INVESTMENT, BUILDING TRUST

A medium size accounting firm handles a high volume of sensitive information via email. Their clients have a great deal of trust in the business’ ability to maintain this information securely.

Challenge
The accounting firm was keen to ensure their email security was of the highest level. Staff currently used a single, simple password to access email systems. This put client information at risk, as individual mailboxes and the email system overall were at risk of being breached.

Solution
ITswitch had previously migrated the accounting firm’s mail server to Office 365. To protect mailboxes from unauthorised access we assisted the client to setup multi-factor authentication in Office 365.

As most of the users had never used multi factor authentication before, we setup a pilot group to demonstrate the process and work out the best fit for employees and the company.

We documented the setup process and went through it with the client beforehand, so the client knew what to expect and feel comfortable with the setup process.

Office 365 multi factor authentication was implemented on all Microsoft services which included Outlook, Teams, One Drive and SharePoint.

Benefit
The implementation of the multi factor authentication was successful and employees were competent in the set up process. The business now has confidence their email systems and mailboxes are secure and can’t be accessed without approval.
